Cabinet approves 9 million U.S dollars for basketball Olympic team

The Council of Ministers on Friday approved 9 million U.S. dollars to facilitate the national basketball team that will be competing in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The Council of Ministers on Friday approved 9 million U.S. dollars to facilitate the national basketball team that will be competing in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Jacob Mijok Korok, Deputy Minister for Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services, said the budget for the basketball team was approved after it had been requested by Dr. Joseph Geng Akech the Minister of Youth and Sports.

He (Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, Minister of Youth and Sports) presented a budget of 9 million to cater for our national team with delegations, they will be travelling to attend the Olympic game in Paris,” Korok told reporters after the cabinet meeting on Friday.

He disclosed that part of the money will facilitate the government delegation to Paris for the Olympic Games.

“The amount actually presented is about 9 million, and the cabinet directed the Minister of Finance to avail the resources so that our team can be supported at these games,” Korok said.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11 this year.
