The Commissioner of Juba County Emmanuel Tete Ezbon has warned the public to refrain from dumping waste on the main roads.

“We need to keep Juba clean because Juba is the face of South Sudan, and if Juba is kept clean, it means that the whole country is clean and if Juba is dirty it means the whole country is dirty,” Ezbon told journalists during inspection of Kuburi Haboba market on Wednesday in Juba.

He urged traders in the market to promote sustainable waste management practices.

“I want to tell our citizens that when the street is clean in the morning, don’t bring and dump the garbage again on the street,” Ezbon said.

“Our job is to keep Juba clean and green but it is your responsibility to clean the garbage around your shop as a trader,” he added.

Ezbon also said they banned the sale of merchandise along the Kuburi Haboba Bridge and other streets in the city.

“It is prohibited not only in Kuburi Haboba but along all the streets in Juba,” he said.
