"We Dare where others fear"

By Simon Deng
The opposition Democratic Party has replaced its secretary general, Thiji Dadawad Deng barely two days after he switched allegiance to Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
“Within the framework of Democratic Party’s keenness to consolidate the principle of struggle, the party decided that the secretary general, Thiji Dadawad Deng also known as Sankara Deng be permanently dismissed from the party membership,” it said in a statement issued in Juba on Sunday.
Deng joined the SPLM led by President Salva Kiir Mayardit on May 29, 2024.
“Therefore, the Democratic Party has assigned, Lual Mabil Negway as the new secretary general of the party until the national convention of the party is held,” it disclosed.
The Democratic Party said Deng’s decision violated Article 1 of the constitution governing the party.
