South Sudan, Belarus seek ways to boost investment cooperation

The Deputy Minister for Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services, Jacob Mijok Korok, said the government sent a high-level delegation in February 2024 to engage Belarus to seek ways to boost investment cooperation.

Korok said the delegation headed by Dr. Stephen Dhieu Mathok, Minister of Investment tabled on Friday the memo on the visit to Minsk before the Council of Ministers meeting in Juba.

“The purpose of the visit was to establish bilateral relations between the government of the Republic of South Sudan and the government of the Republic of Belarus, on the issues related to investment in agriculture, health and infrastructure sector,” Korok told journalists.

He added that Juba sought support from the Belarusian government to provide capacity building and technology transfer.

Korok said that they expect foreign direct investment from the Republic of Belarus to South Sudan.

He said that both countries agreed to establish communication channels, adding that Belarusian officials expressed their readiness to supply South Sudan with agricultural products, farm machines and equipment.
