Loreto Girls Secondary School in Lakes State on Tuesday unveiled the state-of –the art education center that contains computer library and other amenities.
Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit, the Lakes State Minister of Cabinet Affairs during inauguration ceremony in Rumbek town, appreciated the school administration and teachers for providing quality education to students from the greater Bahr el Ghazal region which includes Warrap State, Western Bahr el Ghazal and Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
Mathiang commended the teachers for persevering during the ongoing economic hardship to teach learners.
Carlassare Christian, Bishop of Rumbek Catholic Diocese, said the new education center was built with support from donors and the State government and also parents.
Loreto Girls Secondary School was founded by the Catholic Church 19 years ago to provide quality education to school girls.
Sr. Orla Treac, the Director of Loreto Girls Secondary School, said that the school administration is proud to provide clean water, health care center and quality learning to it’s students.
Treac said that the school is committed to fight illiteracy across the greater Bahr el Ghazal region.
She thanked the State government for improving security in the State.
Mangar Dha Manyiel,the Executive Chief of Matangai payam under Rumbek Central County, appreciated members of Nyang community for donating land on which the school is built.
He said the school has molded engineers, doctors and other professionals currently serving the country with distinction.
