FVP Machar discusses with donors on improving health sector

The First Vice President Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon on Wednesday held meeting with the visiting delegation from the Global Fund and Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) on ways of strengthening cooperation in the health sector.

Machar assured the delegation of his commitment to work with the cabinet to ensure that the annual budget for the health sector is increased.

The Acting Minister of Health Awut Deng Achuil appreciated the Global Fund and Gavi for their unwavering support towards the people of South Sudan, and affirmed the government’s commitment to continue working together with partners to end epidemics.

The Global Fund is an international financing and partnership organization with the goal of attracting, leveraging, and investing more resources to end epidemics of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
