There are six months remaining toward the end of the transition period, and yet several critical pending tasks are yet to be completed.
The slow implementation of these critical tasks especially electoral-related institutions has created doubt among the population on the whether elections will be held in December this year.
The other critical thing is that the parties are still yet to come up with clear election timeline after being encourage by peace monitors to dialogue and come with one.
Time is of essence if the parties want to help get this country out of the ditch it finds itself.
Peace monitors have of lately noted that no new progress has been made on the Bills for the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH) and the Compensation and Reparation Authority (CRA). The bills are still held up in the National Legislative Assembly.
The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission is calling for the Special Reconstruction Fund and its Board to be established to ease on the slow return, relocation, and reintegration processes of the returnees.
However, the government should be commended for providing 800,000 U.S dollars to the vital National Constitutional Review Commission (NCRC).
