Indian firm Global Arcus has promised to support needy South Sudanese students to get scholarships to study in India.
“Basically we offer scholarship to those students who are in need or having a dream to study in India in the top rated universities, they should come to us and we are going to help them,” said Shravan Kumar, the head of Outreach Program for Global Arcus told The Dawn in an interview.
“We have online test, once they pass our test then we offer them scholarship as per their marks, their academic credentials are shared with more than 100 universities in India, if any of the universities accept we are going to connect them with that university and we are also going to offer them free flight tickets,” he added.
Kumar revealed that their company has facilitated more than 4000 students across the world to acquire scholarships to study in India.
He said that they will facilitate students from South Sudan to choose the right university of their choice and also the marketable courses.
“This year, the maximum part of our scholarship is for South Sudan, we have special plans for South Sudan, this has not been happening but this year we have slots for 500 students,” said Kumar.
He disclosed that most of the students in South Sudan are not aware of the scholarships offered by Global Arcus, adding that some students have been made to pay huge amounts of money to study in India.
“They used to pay about 7000 U.S dollars every year, but through our scholarship program they pay 2500 dollars every year in the same universities,” said Kumar.
