Trilateral Mechanism pledges to train Political Parties Council officials

The Trilateral Mechanism on Monday pledged to enhance the capabilities of members of the Political Parties Council to boost their ability to register, monitor, and regulate the activities of political parties.

The Trilateral Mechanism on Monday pledged to enhance the capabilities of members of the Political Parties Council to boost their ability to register, monitor, and regulate the activities of political parties.

 Guang Cong, Representative of the Trilateral Coordination Forum said they will provide technical assistance in areas of capacity building and training to boost the performance of the Political Parties Council.

“We assured the Honorable Chair and also all members of the council full support of the trilateral mechanism of our continued support in technical assistance, capacity building, and training and in different areas,” Guang said.

Guang said the meeting discussed the progress made by the Political Parties Council and the challenges it’s facing and also how the international community can better support it.

“For the trilateral mechanism, we emphasize the importance of civic political space. We also call upon all the parties to agree on the way forward and also to provide clarity on the electoral roadmap,” he said.

James Akol Zakayo, Chairperson of Political Parties Council (PPC) said they briefed the members of the Trilateral Mechanism on their achievements during the last 180 days in office.

“And as you all know, the council activities are not only limited to elections, it’s a continuous process, the registration is a continuous process. So we have also updated them on some other challenges that we face in regards to how we operate,” Akol said.
