Juba County authorities’ right to ban hawkers, vendors along roads

The order issued by the Juba County Commissioner banning hawkers and street vendors along busy roads is commendable as it will decongest traffic.

Several roads around Juba are often full of busy bodies vending goods to motorists; this in turn causes traffic congestion.

Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, the Juba County Commissioner is right to ban these kind of activities along roads, and we hope that the ban is not a mere bluff.

Several popular orders have been issued in the past and yet they are not implemented.

We hope the latest order issued on Wednesday by the local authority will be seen to work.

Kubiri Haboba has been over the past months a beehive of activity with vendors turning especially the bridge linking to Gurei into a business center. This particular place is one of the filthiest places in Juba due to huge heaps of garbage that is easily put there by some of the vendors.

The ban on washing vehicles along main roads is also commendable since it helps save lives of our young people who could easily be hit by motorists.
