The opposition Republic People’s Party has blamed the current high cost of living on mismanagement of public resources.

Wol Madut Aluak Reech, the Chairperson of Republic People’s Party told the Dawn on Sunday that the current economic crisis will not end until the current bloated transitional government ceases to exist.

“The 2018 revitalized agreement has failed, there is government but there is no system, they should establish a lean government, establish a small government with good people to establish the system,” said Reech.

The South Sudan Pound is now exchanging nearly at 4000 with the dollar in the black market.

Reech revealed that any more peace agreements signed between the already bloated transitional unity government and any opposition parties will burden the already strained economy.

“Any agreement will not work, we need well-established institutions and people working in collaboration, interrupted oil flow is not the issue for not paying salary, they have not established a good system of financial management,” he said.

“The issue is not the president or vice president, there is no system that can run public finances, we cannot destroy South Sudan, and there must be a system of accountability, respect for rule of law and taxes must go through the right channel,” Reech added.
