Power blackout in parliament should be an issue of the past

The old ghosts have come back to haunt the Transitional National Legislative Assembly.

The issue of power blackouts that many thought was an issue in the past demonstrates that parliament is unable to function properly.

Thousands of South Sudanese are going through the same setbacks associated with the current power load shedding by JEDCO.

Those who know the inner workings of parliament had thought that after the renovation of the building housing MPs, small issues like power blackout would have been history, but now this fallacy has been exposed.

This huge parliament needs to demonstrate to the tax payers that it is effective at it’s work, but such incidents like the one on Monday demonstrate the incompetence of the leadership of the August house.

Lessons have not been learned by the top leadership of parliament. The transition period is closer to ending, and yet there is lots of legislation to be debated and passed.

Therefore, any flimsy excuses from the top leadership are uncalled for at this moment when every institution is being called upon to deliver on it’s mandate effectively.
