Interior ministry urged to recruit more police officers for Lakes State

The National Ministry of Interior has been asked by leaders in Lakes State to recruit additional police officers to maintain law and order in Lakes State.

Peter Agar Akuocbai, the Security and Peace Advisor to the government of Lakes State on Tuesday appealed to the Deputy National Minister for Interior David Marial Gumke to recruit police officers.

This was during a ceremony organized for 1000 police officers in Rumbek town who had completed refresher training course since January 2024.

David Marial Gumke, the Deputy Minister of Interior applauded the Lakes State Police Commissioner Maj. Gen James Madut Ngor for overseeing the training of the police officers ahead of the upcoming general election where they will be charged with maintaining law and order.

Gumke noted that ministry of interior and the entire top leadership of the police is determined to professionalize the force through capacity building and training courses.

He urged the newly trained police officers to uphold the police code of conduct.

For his part, Maj. Gen. James Madut Ngor the State Police Commissioner reminded the trainees to protect lives and properties of the community.
