NBS Governor asks police to be disciplined, loyal to country

The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Simon Ober Mawut on Monday asked the police to ensure that they are disciplined to serve the public diligently.

Ober made these remarks in Aweil town during the graduation of about 1,000 police officers who completed a six-month refresher training in the State.

“We all know that we have all the laws that we need to govern ourselves, but our problem is enforcement, how do we enforce and how do we ensure that rule of law prevails, there must be discipline among our forces,” Ober said.

Ober said that discipline in the police force is crucial, adding it is a determinant for any officer to rise in rank.

He noted that the refresher training for the police force is a big achievement not just to the police but to the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State and the entire country.

Ober directed the police force to protect lives and property of people and ensure law and order.

For his part, Maj. Gen Philip Madut Tong, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Commissioner of Police said the refresher training will strengthen the response toward rising crime in the State.

Madut disclosed that among the 12 officers who were part of the refresher training include 4 majors, 4 captains and 1 1st Lieutenant and 3 second Lieutenants.

The police training commenced on 15th January 2024.

Madut also called for the provision of enough uniforms to the police force in the State.
