"We Dare where others fear"

Jonglei State authorities on Tuesday commemorated martyrs day by remembering the huge contribution made by the fallen heroes and heroines towards the independence of South Sudan.
“We acknowledge and commemorate this day because of the fallen heroes and heroines who will forever remain symbols of heroism, belief, inspiration, dedication and true leadership,” said Nyamar Lony Thichot Ngundeng Ngundeng, the State minister of information and communication in a statement.
Ngundeng said dedicated men and women paid the ultimate price for the freedom of South Sudanese people.
“The government of Jonglei State urges the people of Jonglei state and South Sudan at large that while honoring our heroes and heroines and paying tribute to their selfless heroic deeds, let us embrace peace and build our beloved nation as a reward to them and the nation,” she said.
The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) led by the late Dr. John Garang Demabior shot the first bullet in Bor town in 1983, which kick started the second phase of the liberation struggle that paved way for the signing of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
Some of the notable fallen liberators include Samuel Gai Tut, Akuot Atem, Kerbino Kuanyin Bol, Joseph Garang, and Aggrey Jaden and Vincent Kuany among others.
