The government needs to back humanitarian agencies, remove the unnecessary impediments such as road blocks and other hindrances.

In fact the taxes that were imposed recently on humanitarian goods need to be waived, because what we are dealing with has not been heard of in the region for the last few years.

The famine -like conditions in some parts of the country was echoed earlier by humanitarian agencies, and now the catastrophe of doing nothing about the situation is unfolding before our naked eyes.

It pains to be in Juba and kids and mothers in Pibor are going to bed without even the cheapest food in Juba. The so called elites in Juba can go to bed after having three to four meals while the wretched of the earth are dying every day due to hunger.

These people have committed no crime and they as South Sudanese citizens deserve better from their government.

I pity the recently appointed energetic chief administrator of Pibor, these are things out of his control. These are things that have been ignored by those in high places of power.

It seems no longer embarrassing for leaders to see their people starving to death amid whispers, murmurs and silence.
