"We Dare where others fear"
The random shootings that have taken place recently in Juba are an epitome of the bad economic times and everybody should be worried.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me, these were the words of German pastor Martin Niemöller during the dark times of Nazi rule.
His words could be applied in the current situation in our country where no one is exceptional to violence.
MPs in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly represent the sovereign structure of this land called South Sudan, because they have power to enact laws except changing a man into a woman.
But these individuals in this August house appear apparently detached from reality and the Speaker and her deputies are culpable for misleading the house when matters of national importance are sidelined on the floor of parliament.
For example, what is the prominence of discussing IGAD treaty when people are being killed randomly in Juba, and some more than 30 people have been confirmed dead due to hunger since last week in Greater Pibor Administrative Area?
It appears that maybe Pibor, has no representatives in the TNLA, and if they are there, they deserve to be thrown under the bus for keeping silent in the face of what is killing their people.
