"We Dare where others fear"

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Monday Semaya Kumba reiterated the government’s support for peace initiative in war-torn neighboring Sudan.
Kumba said these remarks during his recent meeting in Juba with the designated Head of Mission of the Republic of Sudan to South Sudan Isam Mohammed H. Karar.
In a statement issued on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kumba stressed that peace in Sudan is peace for South Sudan, adding that they are ready to support any peace initiative in Sudan.
He welcomed Karar to the country and assured him of the government’s support to facilitate his work in South Sudan, emphasizing the strong historical relationship between the two countries.
For his part, Karar expressed his appreciation to Kumba and stated his willingness to strengthen the existing bilateral ties between the two countries in terms of economic, political, and social aspects.
“I’m pleased to serve in South Sudan and work to strengthen the relationship for the interests of both our countries,” Karar said.
Sudan has witnessed deadly fighting since April 2023, following disagreement between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the integration process of the latter into the armed forces.
The conflict has killed thousands and displaced millions both internally and externally.
South Sudan alongside Chad, Egypt and Ethiopia are some of the countries that have taken in refugees fleeing conflict in Sudan.
