"We Dare where others fear"

By Simon Deng
The head of the South Sudan Chiefs’ Council Angui Deng Macham Angui has asked the hold out opposition parties to reach final peace agreement with the transitional unity government.
“There is no reason to hold grudges after the country has been fully liberated, you must leave behind your differences, citizens are putting blame on the leaders, please return to the country so that we make our permanent constitution,” he said during the meeting of chiefs in Juba on Sunday.
Macham said that various politicians who previously belonged to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) need to reconcile in order to move the country towards development.
“I am calling on all politicians to join hands with President Salva Kiir, in every family there is a head of the family even if there are differences, I am appealing for the reunification of the SPLM,” said Macham.
He revealed that the country needs to provide conducive environment for attracting foreign direct investments in education, health and agriculture sectors in order for lasting peace and stability to prevail.
“When parties are many, opinions will be diverse and the true agenda of the nation will be lost, there will be no clear roadmap, what we need is unification of the SPLM, we need one or two parties than having over 30 parties,” he said.
Hold-out opposition groups including Real SPLM led by Pagan Amum Okiech and South Sudan United Front led by Gen. Paul Malong are holding talks with the transition unity government in Nairobi, Kenya.
The talks mediated by the Kenyan government commenced on May 3rd, replacing the Rome talks that were mediated by the Catholic community of Saint Egidio since November 2019.
