The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Albino Akol Atak Mayom has appealed to the international community to avail support to help tackle climate change induced crisis and internal conflicts.
Akol made this plea during his meeting last week in Juba with Ambassador Charles Tai Gituai, the interim Chairperson of the Reconstituted Join Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC).
Akol briefed the RJMEC chair on the humanitarian situation in the country and also the preparations ahead of the looming floods, according to a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
He also highlighted the issues related to the NGO Act and the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) in Chapter 3 which talks about the Special Reconstruction Fund (SRF).
The two officials discussed in depth the preparation and response plans on floods being made by the government and partners.
Akol recently visited flood prone States to find out preparedness efforts being made by local authorities to mitigate the upcoming floods.
