"We Dare where others fear"
Northern Bahr El Ghazal State residents are living in fear after mysterious deaths of 13 people were reported from July to August 2024.
The deaths have not been conclusively investigated by State authorities since they do not have capacity.
The deaths come at a time when monkey pox is killing people in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Uganda across our border is also battling Mpox outbreak in some parts of the country.
The National Minister of Health, Yolanda Awel Deng on Monday claimed during press conference that robust preparatory and mitigation measures against Mpox are in place.
She should have also attempted to address what her ministry is doing to support authorities in N.Bahr El Ghazal to determine the cause of the deaths in different locations in the State.
The national government has the public health laboratory in Juba, and we hope to soon hear the cause of the deaths in N.Bahr El Ghazal State.
If the deaths go unresolved people could come up with different views on the cause of the deaths, thus further sowing fear and panic in the public.
