Juba County swears in newly appointed chairperson of legislative council

The reconstituted Juba County Legislative Council on Wednesday swore in it’s new chairperson, Daniel Jada Marcelo replacing Robert Milla John who was in July 2024 removed following impeachment motion.

The reconstituted Juba County Legislative Council on Wednesday swore in it’s new chairperson, Daniel Jada Marcelo replacing Robert Milla John who was in July 2024 removed following impeachment motion.

Daniel Jada Marcelo, the newly appointed chairperson for the reconstituted Juba County Legislative Council said he will work hard to ensure that people are united towards a common purpose of service delivery.

“You have choose me not to divide but to unite the council, the executive of Juba County and its people, I do not see tribes or community, I only see parties in the agreement and their supporters in different communities,” said Marcelo.

Marcelo said he will work hard to ensure transparency and accountability, the rule of law and fairness among the members of the legislative council.

“I believe Central Equatoria state has call upon all of us to discourage tribalism, insecurity and issues of land grabbing which has been heard at the highest of the government, unity is our strength, we need to have collective responsibilities,” he said.

Leon Abe Brown, the Central Equatoria state’s minister of local government said the legislative council need to focus on job description to avoid clashes under responsibility sharing across the county.

“Our work need us to understand ourselves, we need to have clear job description to put Central Equatoria state to the good level, our work need join cooperation to move in the right direction, we need to have  respect among ourselves, ”  said Brown.

In July 2024, a member of Juba County Legislative Council,Loro Luwala tabled a motion of no confidence against Robert Milla  John during an extraordinary meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman David Pitia Yoana.

The councilors unanimously impeached, Robert Milla John, citing inaction on matters of public concern, especially urgent motions and poor administration in handling the responsibilities of the Juba County legislative council.
