Over 6 million South Sudan Pounds and 6,000 United States dollars were raised at Sunday’s fundraising drive to renovate St. Joseph Parish in Shirikat suburb of Juba.

Rev. Paul Malual, parish priest in charge of St. Joseph Cathedral of the Anglican Church of South Sudan appreciated Twic East County intellectuals and other believers for their contribution to expand the church.

“The church fundraising committee has collected 6,008,500 SSP and 6000 dollars during Sunday fundraising event,” Malual said during the fundraising event on Sunday

He appealed to the public to love each other and contribute to church activities in order to receive blessings from God.

For his part, John Juac Arok Juac, the newly appointed Commissioner of Twic East County of Jonglei State called on the sons and daughters of Twic East County and well-wishers to support the people of Twic East County affected by heavy floods.

“Without our help as South Sudanese, our civil population will be dying by fall. So I am appealing for individual help to people in an area affected by floods,” Juac said.

“To each community, this season is the worst season in our lifetime, and this is the first time. In 1991, we experienced the same scenario. In 2013, we experienced the same thing and now we are experiencing the same thing,” he added.
