Students undergo entry test exams for Ethiopia-funded scholarships in Juba

The Ethiopian Embassy in Juba on Saturday conducted entry test exams for South Sudanese students applying for master’s scholarship programs.

Amb. Nebil Mahdi Abdullahi, the Ethiopian Ambassador in South Sudan said the students who will pass the assessment test will study masters’ courses in various fields in prestigious Ethiopian universities.

“This morning (Saturday) we have a graduate assessment test program for those post-graduate student candidates for master’s program in Ethiopia,” Amb. Mahdi told Dawn on Saturday.

Mahdi said about 90 candidates competed for the available 25 slots, adding that the assessment test was introduced in 2023.

“Those who pass the test exam will join different universities of Ethiopia and we will also continue the same for undergraduates and those students for Technical and Vocational Education and Training,” he said.

Mahdi said that Ethiopia annually offers three major programs such as postgraduate, masters, PhD, TVET enrolled in various institutions in Ethiopia.

“This is a major bilateral relation concerning human resource development, especially in the scholarships which are given to neighboring countries including South Sudan,” he said.

Mahdi said that the number of scholarships for South Sudan due to the strategic relationship between the two sisterly countries.

Since 2015, many South Sudanese medical doctors and others from have obtained scholarships for specialization in various fields in Ethiopian universities.
