President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday acceded to three International Conventions, according to a statement issued on Facebook page of the presidential press unit on Friday.
Kiir acceded to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, 1999, which enhances international cooperation in devising and adopting effective measures for the prevention of the financing of terrorism.
It disclosed that other Conventions included the United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances, 1988 and the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
The Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances was adopted to limit the diversion and abuse of certain psychotropic substances, such as central nervous stimulants, sedative-hypnotics, and hallucinogens, which had resulted in public health and social problems in South Sudan
