1,000 police officers complete refresher training in Lakes State

Lakes State has passed out about 1,000 police officers who completed a six-month refresher training since January, this year.

Lakes State has passed out about 1,000 police officers who completed a six-month refresher training since January, this year.

Gen. Benjamin John Batisia , the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Social Welfare, during the graduation ceremony on Monday in Rumbek town asked the trainees to respect orders from their superiors.

He urged the police officers to prevent crime by working closely with the community.

 The Governor of Lakes State Rin Tueny Mabor, called on the trained officers to help tackle criminal groups in the State, adding that most of the officers will soon be deployed across the eight counties of the state.

 

The Outgoing Police Commissioner, Maj. Gen James Madut Ngor said that 25 of the 1,000 police officers hold bachelor degrees including one with a master degree.

He cautioned the graduates to utilize the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the training to enable them to effectively carryout their police work within the communities.

 Madut congratulated his predecessor Maj. Gen Elias Costa who is expected to continue the good work of overseeing training of the police and other duties.

 Alexander Rodkin, Commander of UN Police in Lakes State emphasized the importance of refresher training to address current challenges hampering police work in the State.
