"We Dare where others fear"
The recent attack on staff of the international medical charity, Medicines San Frontiers (MSF) in Yei, has raised renewed fears and anxiety.
Yei remains insecure due to the reported presence of the National Salvation Front (NAS). The armed opposition has been accused of recruitment around Yei and neighboring areas. This means the government needs to up it’s security there to ensure safety for citizens and several humanitarian agencies.
The attack on MSF is the third within a period of three months, meaning that the bad old days are back.
The transition unity government stands to lose credibility on the international stage, if such crude attacks continue against humanitarians unabated.
The delayed graduation of the remaining unified forces has created a security vacuum, and this requires the parties to find urgent solutions to solving this complex issue.
