The Samaritan Purse Deputy Director on International Projects, David C. Philips has expressed the organization’s willingness to support South Sudan to respond towards the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the ongoing war in Sudan.
Philips said this in New York during a meeting with Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the sideline of the Summit for the Future at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to a statement issued on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It noted that Philips also considered supporting the flood affected population within the country.
For his part, Goc explained the humanitarian and flooding situation in the country and encouraged the organization to continue supporting the vulnerable people in good faith.
Albino Akol Atak, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, said that the humanitarian situation is worsening on a daily basis along the South Sudan-Sudan border as the war continues in Sudan.
He urged humanitarian organizations to support the government in addressing the humanitarian needs of the country.
The officials also shared views on humanitarian situation in Sudan and the ways to support the needy population there.
Sudan has been experiencing conflict since April 15,2023 after the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) disagreed on the integration process of the latter into the armed forces.
