The food items were sourced by the state government from Juba.

He said the second consignment of food items will arrive in the state from Juba soon.

“We are expecting more items, but we are forced by the circumstances not to wait for the ones that are being brought from Juba.”

Mawut called upon development partners and humanitarian actors to join hands with the state government to mobilize support for flood victims.

Parson Lual Awech, the State Chairperson for Relief and Rehabilitation Commission reaffirmed the government readiness to continue supporting its citizens to mitigate the impacts of the disaster.

“These food items that we have distributed are government donations to these people. These are the locals’ assistance from the government of northern Bahr el Ghazal state, in which we have purchased this food for our people,” said Lual.

Floods have destroyed about 100 houses in four residential areas, killed three people including a mother and an infant in Nyinaluk residential area and displaced thousands.
