Please parties don’t dare to extend the transition period again

The extension of the transition period on September 13, which was supposed to end with the first vote for the presidency, parliamentary and local elections, was a slap in the face of the citizens.

The international community including the United Nations has already declared their opposition to the illegal extension, blaming the parties to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement of lacking the necessary political will.

The parties after staging this coup should recover from the shame, and ensure they work jointly to fulfill the promises made during the extension of the transition period.

Our honest advice should be taken serious, because the disenchanted citizens could resort to unconstitutional means of seeking to overthrow the current status quo, unless the big men and women behave as they are expected towards the citizens.

The constitution clearly proclaims that power belongs to the people, and they have the right to use all means available to protect the constitutional order.

The country is already witnessing mushrooming motley rebel groups which are emanating as a result of the increasingly shrinking civic and political space. This should prompt the top leadership to contemplate and come up with a clear, coherent roadmap to accomplish the so-called pending critical peace tasks ahead of the December 2026.
