NCRC establishes committees to speed up constitution making process

The Secretary General for the Reconstituted National Constitution Review Commission (NCRC), John Natana Abraham on Wednesday revealed that they have formed committees to carry out civic education and public consultation on the constitution making process.

The Secretary General for the Reconstituted National Constitution Review Commission (NCRC), John Natana Abraham on Wednesday revealed that they have formed committees to carry out civic education and public consultation on the constitution making process.

“We have already prepared our civic education and public consultation committees for the ten states and three administration areas, and even for the diaspora,” said Abraham in an interview with The Dawn.

He said that each committee has about 6 members.

Abraham said that the constitution making process will be launched soon in juba, adding that the government has tabled the budget for it.

He said that they already have in place action plan and budget for civic education and public consultation.

Abraham said they expect to complete enactment of the permanent constitution within 18 months of the extended transition period.

“We should be able to do our work within 18 months period, the constitution making process will be people driven that means primary data shall be from the people of South Sudan,” he said.
