"We Dare where others fear"
Water tank drivers are no longer bringing water to homesteads because of the dictatorship imposed on them by Central Equatoria State and Juba City Council.
We believe that the order forcing drivers to sell water at a fixed price of 2,500 SSP from the previous 5,000 is brutal and did not take into consideration the economic reality in the country.
The price of fuel is nearly at its highest price since independence in 2011, and just like any other business whether big or small the cost of staying in business is quite very expensive.
The problem is that we have business people who at the same time hold positions with big perks in government deciding for the rest of us. South Sudan is a country where conflict of interest is rife in government.
These Eritreans providing water to many of us including the top politicians are victims of cartels that are fighting for the pie in the water market. The irony is that the leaders claim to speak in the interest of the general public and yet they cannot fix the water and sewerage problem in the city.
The drivers are now no longer bringing water because of the draconian order imposed on them.
