South Sudanese fighter Alhassan Mosala is going to compete at the upcoming Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Championship in Khanty-Mansiyk, Russia that will kick off on the 22nd of November, this year.

Lofogo Sarour, a  Dutch-South Sudanese renowned professional fighter and acting coach for team South Sudan said that Mosala,27,  has exquisite talent, unique skill set and determination to succeed at the championship.

“Our objective is very clear and simple and that is to win, so again it is with great pride and honor as team South Sudan to partake in this. And I am highly convinced that this will open many doors for the up and coming talented youth out there,” Sarour told The Dawn in an interview  over the weekend in Juba.

He said that this is the first time for South Sudan to be represented at such international competition.

Sarour disclosed that in his career as a professional fighter over a decade he competed in the most prestigious tournaments, adding all this success is because of the experience earned during his stay in Netherlands.

He has now been training young boys and girls the same skills at triple A academy.

“I consider myself quite privileged to have had a long track record of attending and participating in world class events, but shared power is splendor”.

For his part, Mosala said that the Russian tournament provides him with a big opportunity to represent South Sudan, adding that he is confident of being victorious.

“I have been waiting for this moment for a really long time,  for me, I didn’t have a chance to fight on the international stage and represent my country, so it means a lot and  I am going to try my best to bring something good to South Sudan,” said Mosala.

He said that he is much motivated during training ahead of his debut at the tournament

“This one is going to be an open door. So for me, I’m sacrificing a lot of stuff I don’t want to talk about for now. This competition I am going to attend is like an open door, If I succeed it’s going to open a lot of doors for team mates and the entire South Sudan,” said Mosala.

He said that his coaching team is drilling him to succeed against the best experienced opponents at the tournament.

“We as team South Sudan will do our utmost best to showcase our qualities and inspire throughout the process. This opportunity will open the door for the current and upcoming generation of South Sudanese fighters,” said Mosala.
