"We Dare where others fear"
The transitional unity government should avail funding for the peace process instead of appealing entirely to the international community to fund the peace process.
There is donor fatigue when it comes to South Sudan, due to failure of the parties to make major progress on key aspects of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.
In the words of Nicholas Haysom, the Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, various appeals to the international community to fund the peace process seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
This is largely due to lack of demonstrable proof, that national financial resources are being prioritized for the peace process.
The jury is still out to determine whether the parties to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement have the necessary political will, to ensure that the extended transition period will achieve it’s main objectives.
The parties need to agree on the disbursement of funds for key tasks such as the constitution making process, security arrangements and other tasks.
South Sudanese are quickly losing hope in this transition unity government for it’s sheer lack of success on the critical tasks within the peace agreement.
