The Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA), a civil society group, on Friday protested the exclusion of South Sudan in the Community Solutions Program for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 cycles.

“CPA is deeply concerned that, while other East African nations have been included in this prestigious global program, South Sudan has been left out for the past two years,” said the statement seen by the Dawn.

It disclosed that last year’s applicants from South Sudan, including the CPA’s executive director, received no feedback.

“This lack of response may discourage South Sudanese citizens from applying for future opportunities offered by the United States, a leading global contributor to peace, justice, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law,” it said.

CPA said that many South Sudanese have reached out to them to request the U.S Embassy in Juba to provide concrete and satisfactory answers.

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a year-long professional leadership development program for established community leaders working to improve their communities by addressing issues related to democracy and human rights, environment, peace and conflict resolution, and women and gender.
