Police releases report on crimes committed in October

The South Sudan National Police Service, Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, has revealed that criminal acts in the form of armed robbery, revenge killings, communal disputes and cattle rustling declined in the month of October.

The South Sudan National Police Service, Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, has revealed that criminal acts in the form of armed robbery, revenge killings, communal disputes and cattle rustling declined in the month of October.

Koang said in his latest report on the crime rate released on Tuesday, that flooding remains the biggest threat to national security rather than armed robbery, revenge killings, communal disputes and cattle rustling.

He disclosed that most affected states by flooding include Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity State, Upper Nile State and Ruweng Administrative Area.

Koang added that the rise in suicide cases are also bothering circles within the security.

He detailed some murders which occurred this month, disclosing that a 26- year -old man was on October 21, 2024 shot in the abdomen and died instantly before reaching the medical center in Torit town of Eastern Equatoria State.

Koang also noted that a drowning dead body of a 17 year old boy was detected and recovered on the same day from a water source in Aweil North County.

 On 22 October 2024, a dead of a 25 year old man was detected and recovered from Mangol river of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

He said an armed civil defense personnel shot an officer at the rank of private and injured a warrant officer on the same day in Abiemnhom County. Koang disclosed that the perpetrator was apprehended by police.

He said that on 22 October 2024, an intelligence officer in Wau town of Western Bahr El Ghazal State apprehended a foreign driver with 5 bags of copper rolls which he wanted to smuggle to Juba from Sudan.

Koang also said that a 28 year old armed SSPDF sergeant on 23 October 2024, opened fire at revelers at a night club in Rum-tiit village killing one person and injuring 3 others.
