Lakes Governor bemoans tragic demise of prominent figures

The Governor of Lakes State,RinTueny Mabor, on Monday regretted the untimely deaths of prominent figures hailing from the State.

The Governor of Lakes State,RinTueny Mabor,  on Monday regretted the untimely deaths of prominent figures hailing from the State.

Mabor said during the burial in Rumbek of Abraham Makoi Bol Kodi, the former of Governor of the defunct Western Lakes State that they have recently lost several prominent leaders and peace makers due to treatable illness.

 “We left for the bush due to freedom of our beloved country, late Makoi was a committed man who fulfilled whatever assignment was rendered to him during his life time, he was a responsible man who never had misunderstandings with his colleagues,” said Mabor.

Zacheria Matur Makuer,  MP representing Rumbek Central County in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, used the occasion to call for succession of traditional chiefs be done within the family  of any late chief.

His remarks follow disputes within the family of the late deputy paramount chief of Nyang community, Mageng Mabor Keer, where the late Makoi hails from.

Prof. Michael Maker Magony, Lecturer at Rumbek University of Science and Technology described late Makoi as a man of peace, adding that he was the one who donated the land on which the office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) sits in Rumbek.

 Samuel Madol Akec, a relative to the late Makoi urged the family members to remain united in this difficult time.

Late Makoi earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and social studies from Rumbek University of Science and Technology.
