"We Dare where others fear"

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday accused warmongers for spreading rumors of tension around Juba.
On Tuesday, 26th November, some social media users alleged brewing tension between the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Santino Deng Wol, and Gen. Stephen Marshall, the Head of the Military Intelligence, with rumors claiming that the tension followed the suspension of Marshall for orchestrating the violent clashes at the residence of Gen. Akol Koor Kuc.
“The beneficiaries of war and instability are behind these rumors. They have no benefit in peace. They are disappointed that our country is peaceful since we signed the Revitalized Agreement in 2018,” Kiir told national broadcaster (SSBC) in Juba.
Kiir said the baseless rumors were aimed to instill fear and sense of uncertainty in the citizen’s minds with the intent of creating havoc in the country.
“I am here to address the panic and fear that happened on Tuesday, 26th November 2024. The misinformation circulating of the tension in the army headquarters is untrue,” Kiir said.
He said the SSPDF remains intact and is working together with sister security agencies to discharge their patriotic duty effectively.
“As your president, I hereby assure you that our country is secure and safe. I said it time and again that our country will not return to war,” Kiir disclosed.
Kiir assured the citizens of his administration’s readiness to embrace dialogue to resolve political differences.
“I appeal to you to go about your businesses, so we can collectively build our beautiful country. Learn to defy these rumors, never take them seriously because they are lies,” he said.
