"We Dare where others fear"

By Jenifer James
The Minister of Cabinet Affairs and rapporteur of the Tumaini peace delegation, Martin Elia Lomuro, has dismissed rumors circulating on social media claiming he has been kicked out from the ongoing peace talks in the Kenyan capital.
Speaking to Radio Miraya on Monday, Lomuro clarified that the rumors were baseless and part of a broader disinformation campaign.
“We agreed during the negotiations to avoid engaging with the media to prevent jeopardizing the peace process. However, this press statement is necessary to reassure our citizens and counter the false narrative being spread by opposition groups and their allies,” he said.
Lomuro accused the opposition and holdout groups of orchestrating a smear campaign by recruiting journalists and bloggers to create negative perceptions of the peace process.
“I have been targeted because of my role as rapporteur and secretary of the High-Level Standing Committee. My position gives me access to critical information for negotiations, which seems to have caused fear among the other side,” he disclosed..
Lomuro emphasized his trust in chief mediator Lazarus Sumbeiywo, describing him as a respected and responsible peace facilitator.
“It is inconceivable that someone like him would expel a senior minister from the delegation. These rumors are false and intended to undermine public trust in the government,” he said.
Lomuro urged citizens to disregard the propaganda, which he believes is aimed at dividing the delegation and eroding hope in the peace process.
“We will not engage in negotiations on social media. Our focus remains on achieving peace, as directed by the President,” he said.
He expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating that if the opposition accepts the proposed agenda, a solution to South Sudan’s challenges could be within reach.
On Sunday there were rumors on social media that Gen. Lazaro Sumbeiywo, the Tumaini Chief Mediator, kicked out Martin Elia Lomuro for talking arrogantly and insulting delegates at the talks.
