The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has returned to the state capital, Yambio, after a successful week-long peace mission in Tambura County.
The mission was aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict between the Azande and Balanda communities in Tambura, which had led to violence in recent weeks. The Deputy Governor worked closely with local leaders, community members, and security forces to mediate and promote peace in the region.
Upon his return, state government officials, community leaders, and SPLM youth members gathered to warmly welcome him back to Yambio. In an interview with the media, Deputy Governor Rimbasa revealed that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the tribal conflict in Tambura and are currently in police custody.
He assured the public that a comprehensive report on the mission would be compiled and shared, providing accurate and transparent details about the actions taken during the visit.
“The mission in Tambura has been successful, and we are committed to ensuring that peace is restored. We will continue to work together with the local communities and security agencies to address the root causes of the conflict,” said Rimbasa.
Rimbasa was accompanied by a special committee formed for the peace mission, as well as the Minister of Information and Communication, Hon. Elia Usini Dominic, who played a vital role in communication efforts during the mission.
The Deputy Governor urged the public to remain patient and assured them that all necessary steps would be taken to prevent further violence in the area.
