Cabinet approves  sustainable tourism master plan

The Council of Ministers in their regular meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday approved the sustainable tourism master plan presented by the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Onyoti Adigo, on behalf of Hassan Rizik,the Minister of Wildlife and Conservation.

The Council of Ministers in their regular meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday approved the sustainable tourism master plan presented by the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Onyoti Adigo, on behalf of  Hassan Rizik,the Minister of Wildlife and Conservation.

The tourism master plan will be aligned with the criteria and regulations of of the Inter –Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal services, Michael Makuei Lueth, said during Friday’s briefing to journalists in Juba, that  the tourism master plan will enable the government to extract revenues from the lucrative sector.

“It is worth mentioning that South Sudan is one of the promising areas whereby tourism will be a real revenue-generating institution, but because of other problems up to now, we have not yet developed our tourism, but with time we will be in a position. Tourism will be one of the leading revenue-generating institutions, as soon as there is stability and peace, and as soon as the roads are constructed and there is connectivity then definitely tourism will flourish in South Sudan,” said Lueth.

 Lueth said that the IGAD master plan adopted by member States was approved by the cabinet.
