Islamic Relief empowers women in Kapoeta North County

The Islamic Relief agency has equipped 50 people with tailoring and bread making skills in Kapoeta North County, Eastern Equatoria State.

The Commissioner of Kapoeta North County, David Nayee Lomor, said this first ever capacity building training will help the beneficiaries who include 49 women and one male to improve their livelihoods and generate incomes.

 “Women are facing hardship in terms of income generation, all women are now brewing local brew as their source of income in Kapoeta North County which is harmful to the life of the locals and we as authority have decided to change them from that kind of business,” he told The Dawn on Thursday.

Lomor revealed that the women who completed the three-months training will be given tailoring machines as startup for their businesses.

“Though we are not able to support all of them or even to provide all their needs, this is the small step we thought could support change their lives, we are still call for more partners to support woman including men,” he said.

 Islamic Relief agency is implementing similar trainings across other counties in Eastern Equatoria State including other States in the country.
