"We Dare where others fear"

The Political Parties Council (PPC) on Thursday called all political parties to stop internal disputes and focus on development.
This came after internal conflicts emerged within key opposition parties, leading to sharp division.
Lona James Elia, Deputy Chairperson of the Political Parties Council, said that internal bickering within parties should end due to their importance as vehicles for delivering services to the people of South Sudan.
James advised parties to reconcile their differences in a bid to provide services to the citizens.
She made this plea at the closing of the two-day workshop on the role of media and political parties in enabling civic and political space in Juba.
“The second one is that there is also a lot of competition between the political parties, not in terms of what they provide for the people of South Sudan but in terms of what powers they want to get,” said James.
She claimed that some of these internal disputes emerge due to lack of political maturity, adding that political parties must prove their ideas and competence to be elected into positions of power by the citizens.
James urged political parties to address their internal differences to be able to deliver services.
“So it’s about time that these issues are discussed, and that every political party that is coming to the scene must prove itself that they are the best in terms of service delivery,” she said.
