President Salva Kiir Mayardit urged all South Sudanese to embrace peace and unity in his Christmas message.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit urged all South Sudanese to embrace peace and unity in his Christmas message.

“Let this holiday be a time when we come together in a shared commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, and united South Sudan. As we celebrate this Christmas, may we carry the message of peace and hope in our hearts into the new year,” Kiir said in his message.

He noted that Christmas is not only a significant day for Christians around the world but also a moment for everyone to reflect on the shared values of love, peace, and unity. It is also a time for families to come together.

“As we prepare to celebrate this season, we are reminded of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to bring peace and goodwill to all people. As the Bible tells us in the book of Luke, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.’ These words are as powerful today as they were two thousand years ago. They remind us that Christmas is not just about celebration but also about embracing the true spirit of peace, kindness, and forgiveness, despite the challenges we have faced this year.”

He reassured the public that this Christmas, the government has prioritized their safety and security, especially for those traveling to the countryside.

“The government is committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment, not only during the festive season but throughout the year.”
