The Commissioner of Juba County, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, has called on citizens to prioritize peace, unity and forgiveness during this festive season.

Speaking to the congregation at St. Matthew Parish during mass on Wednesday, Ezbon emphasized the importance of embracing the true spirit of Christmas for reconciliation and harmony.

He reminded the faithful that Christmas is not merely about material preparations such as buying new clothes or cleaning homes but is fundamentally about opening hearts to forgiveness and fostering unity.

“Christmas is a time to forgive one another and reflect on the values of peace and unity,” said Ezbon.

Ezbon encouraged the community to use the festive season to heal and strengthen bonds.

“Let us use this season to mend broken relationships, for only through forgiveness and unity can we create a brighter future for ourselves and our children,” he said.

Ezbon urged citizens to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with love, joy, and peace, reiterating the significance of this season as a moment to strengthen bonds and heal divisions.

“True celebration comes not from lavish feasts or decorations but from the warmth we extend to one another in love and kindness,” he said.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of personal responsibility in promoting harmony.

“Each of us has a role to play in building peace. Let us begin in our homes and neighborhoods, spreading love wherever we go,” said Ezbon.

Ezbon emphasized the need to carry the lessons of Christmas beyond this festive season.

“The spirit of forgiveness and unity should not end with the festivities but should guide us every day of the year,” he said.

As the festive season continues, Ezbon encouraged all citizens to reflect on the example set by Christ.

“As we reflect on the birth of Christ, let it inspire us to be peacemakers in our homes, communities, and beyond,” he said.
