The South Sudan National Police Services said it registered 7 death cases during Christmas festive across the country.

Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, Spokesperson for the South Sudan National Police Services issued a summary crime report on Friday detailing the crime incidents recorded on December 24, 2024.

 Koang said that among the fatalities registered include, a 21- year old male National Security Service officer who was stabbed and injured in Referendum residential area on December 24, 2024.

 The victim died after being taken to hospital for treatment, adding that a case was opened at the Western police division in Munuki and the accused person was arrested.

 Koang said on the same day, a 36 -year -old Ugandan national was found dead inside his working place in Nyakuron residential area, adding that a case was opened at Mauna police division.

He said the dead body of the Ugandan national was taken to the mortuary for medical anatomy to find out the cause of his death.

Koang also disclosed that a misunderstanding between 3 youth in Mangatein residential area left a 15- year- old boy and 35- year- old man injured. He said that a case was opened at the Western police division in Munuki and the accused suspect was arrested amid ongoing investigation.

 He said that on December 25, 2024, one inmate was found dead in the prison, and a case was opened at Northern police division. Koang disclosed that the dead body was taken to the military mortuary for medical anatomy to find out the cause of his death.

In a separate incident at around 12:00 P.M, a male Private from SSPDF division 7 committed suicide by hanging himself to death on a tree in Gumbo Shirkat.

“Our forensic team went to the crime scene and took the dead body to Juba funeral home for further anatomy and the case was opened at Eastern police division in Gumbo Shirkat and the investigation is going on,” said Koang.

He also said that a 18- year- old male was stabbed in Nyakuron residential area, on December 25 at around 4:00 P.M, adding that the victim was taken to hospital for further treatment and unfortunately passed on.

Koang said that police in Mauna division arrested a suspect as investigation remains ongoing.

“On 26 December at around 1:00 A.M, a 20- year- old male was shot dead by security personnel while chasing Niggas. Our forensic team went to the crime scene and the dead body was taken to Juba funeral home for anatomy. A case was opened at Mauna police division and the investigation is ongoing,” he disclosed.

Koang further added that a 27 -year -old man was shot dead on December 25, 2024 by unknown gunmen in Ihemehejek. He said that the police and Monyomiji are pursuing the criminals by following their footmarks.

Koang revealed that traffic police registered 47 minor cases across the country and no death were registered during the last 48 hours of the Christmas celebration.
