Aliab youth from Awerial County in Lakes State have launched a campaign to encourage learners to return to school.

The campaign dubbed the “Aliab Go-to-School Initiative” aims to encourage school dropouts in the community to enroll again in school.

The first phase of the campaign was launched on Friday at Mingkaman under the theme: “Transforming Aliab Community through Education.”

Eng. Majok Riak D. Wol Anok, a leading member of the Aliab Go-to-School Initiative, said the drive aims to encourage parents and other stakeholders to enroll their children in school.

“The campaign was designed by a few Aliab youth with an aim of sensitizing our people on the importance of education to our society and our nation, South Sudan,” said Wol in a statement seen by the Dawn on Sunday.

Wol disclosed that the team started visiting various communities to sensitize parents about the benefit of education to the community.

He said it is the duty of the parents to impress upon their children that education is the route to success.

Wol encouraged Aliab youths to take part in this transformational initiative, emphasizing that education is a sacrifice that parents should be encouraged to invest in to grant their children a better future.

“I call upon Aliab community intellectuals all over the world to join hands with our team to make this initiative a success,” he said.

Wol commended Awerial County Commissione, Philip Mawut Garang, the Directorate of Education, and the church leaders for their cooperation and encouragement.

He said the campaign will involve mindset change among parents, teachers, and students.
