The South Sudan National Police Services said on Monday that it has received 10 South Sudanese nationals who were recently deported from Egypt.
“On 23 December 2024, the C.I.D received 10 South Sudanese deportees from Egypt at Juba International Airport. No criminal charges were labeled against them, thus; they were reunited with their families since they had no criminal records against them,” said Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, Spokesperson for the police during a media briefing at the police headquarter.
In a separate development, Kassara said that the general security situation from December 26 – 30, 2024 was relatively calm and stable countrywide except for some minor incidents.
He also noted that security along the highways connecting to the States was stable during Christmas period.
However, Kassara disclosed that some minor incidents of crime occurred in the States and the three administrative areas.
He said that in Gumel-Ayok-Thok village of Kuach North Payam, Gogrial West county, a 31 year old housewife was beaten to death by her husband in a domestic violence on December, 26, 2024, adding that the perpetrator was apprehended and a case was opened in Kuajok county police Station.
“On 26 December 2024, a 20 year old male was assaulted and stabbed to death in Lologo residential area in Wau. The suspect was apprehended and a case was opened in Wau town police station for further investigations,” he said.
On 26 December 2024, a 12 -year -old female child was raped by a 38 year old male in Majook-yien-thiou of Awiel East County, said Kassara.
“The victim child was taken to Malual-Kon hospital for medical checkup and the suspected defendant was apprehended, a case was opened in Awiel East county police station for further investigations,” he disclosed.
He added that on 27 December 2024, a 44 year old Sudanese foreign national was shot and injured by unidentified armed perpetrator in Kejin boma of Maban County.
Kassara said a case was opened in Maban county police station for further investigations and the victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“On 27 December 2024, an armed Sudanese man missed his target and mistakenly shot and injured his wife in Maban refugee camp. He was apprehended and detained in Maban county police station for further investigations,” he said.
Kassara also warned owners of night clubs not to allow teenagers into their venues.
