The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) on Monday donated food supplies to 250 children staying in an orphanage run by the Sheih Dafallah Abbas Foundation in Juba.
The donated items include 1 ton of sugar, 1 ton of maize flour, 1 ton of wheat flour, and rice, lentils, beans, and 500 liters of cooking oil.
Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan, Metin Ergin said that they are trying their best to support their brothers and sisters in South Sudan.
“As the Turkish government, we are trying to contribute very humbly and we appreciate the Foundation’s acceptance of our support. Turkiye attaches great importance to its relations and fraternal ties with South Sudan, and we will continue to do our best to try to support our brothers and sisters in South Sudan to the extent we are able,” said Ergin during the handover ceremony in Juba.
The Director of Sheikh Dafallah Abbas Foundation, Sheikh Juma Saeed Ali, appreciated the support given to them by the Turkish government in this difficult time.
“We are saying thank you very much for coming and to observe the handover of these items to us so that we continue to support these orphans in this center,” said Ali.
Ali said that most of the children whom they taking care of are orphans and children from poor families who cannot afford decent meals.
“We are facing a lot of challenges because nobody is supporting us, unless if you find someone like this, they come, they visit the center, and then they come to support us, but people with good will like TIKA are the ones who are supporting this center,” he disclosed.
The Centre was established in the 1980’s to support vulnerable people with no income to support their children in the school.
