The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani, in his New Year message has highlighted his government commitment on resolving numerous social, economic and political challenges that continue to affect the State.

Jadalla on Tuesday expressed confidence that with the guidance of the Almighty God, the state will continue its efforts towards peacebuilding, economic recovery, and security stabilization.

“I have no doubt that we will receive the guidance and blessings of the Almighty God to strive further with hopes and confidence in achieving our pillar pathways for peace-building, economic recovery, and security stabilization,” he said during a media briefing in Juba.

Jadalla underscored the importance of returning refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes, stressing the need for urgent action to bring peace and stability to the State.

“We have no time to waste, but we have an opportunity to deliver peace, love, unity, hope, commitment, and determination to move our state forward into prosperity,” said Jadalla.

In addition, he acknowledged the economic and social devastations faced by many families and the challenges in rebuilding government structures.

However, he remained hopeful about the progress made.

“Although the year 2024, was overwhelmed with fears of families, economic and social devastation. I am grateful that we have managed to overcome those critical obstacles that drain progress and revitalize peace implementation and livelihood expectations,” said Jadalla.

He also emphasized the need for unity and passion in tackling the on-going challenges.

“We need more passion from each one of us to bind us together and strive even harder not to waste our momentum,” said Jadalla.

Jadalla noted the threats posed by climate change, particularly floods and the need for urgent attention to restore infrastructure and public services.

“We need to address our healthcare services, education systems, waste management processes, road rehabilitation, water delivery, and refugee returns,” he said.

Jadalla also called on the youth and women, who make up the majority of the population, to play a key role in the economic development of the state, particularly through entrepreneurship.

“I urge the youth to change their mind-set, not to be used by politicians to fight themselves and destroy their abilities. Instead, they should unite and focus on positive activities such as education, sports, and the arts,” he said.

He also encouraged the youth to prepare for the upcoming general elections in December 2026, emphasizing the importance of selecting leaders with clarity and purpose.
